Blue Front Bar-B-Que began its operation in 1964 on the corner of 15th street & Tamarind avenue. Norris Nelson knew very little about the operation of a restaurant business. However, cooking BBQ was not such a task as Norris was well trained by his father when he was a boy in Eastman, Georgia.
Norris' ribs and chicken with his spicy BBQ sauce quickly became a hit and in high demand by the locals. Customers came from far and wide including Palm Beach just to purchase Norris' Chicken & Ribs with that special sauce on them. Customers kept asking Norris how they could purchase the sauce that was his Grandfather's recipe, so Norris began selling his sauce in empty soda bottles.
The demand for his thick spicy sauce was so great that it increased his passion to make it available to as many customers as possible, so he opened a bottling company across the street from the restaurant and began manufacturing his sauce.
He patented the name Blue Front Bar-B-Que Inc. in 1979 and began marketing his sauce to the public in many stores throughout the county, state of Florida and across the country including Winn Dixie and Publix. After 40 plus years in business, Blue Front Bar-B-Que, Inc. still produces a BBQ sauce that is in demand and extremely competitive in the industry.
